Queer Affirming Trauma Therapy

My Approach

Queer, fat, white appearing person with short hair on laptop smiling.

I am so glad you’re here.

In my private practice, I work with adults and teens in the LGBTQIA2S+ community seeking support for a variety of reasons. Primarily I provide individual therapy but will occasionally do relationship and/or family sessions. My specialties include anxiety, grief (all kinds), attachment wounds, childhood and adulthood trauma, systemic trauma, chronic stress, co-dependency challenges and other relationship struggles, gender identity, sexual identity, human identity, emotional abuse, depression, and more. I am also a registered supervisor. If you might be interested in supervision, reach out! I offer a free 15 minute consultation to ensure we are a good fit as well, so don’t hesitate to connect with me!

*I provide online video sessions/telehealth only. I do not offer any in person sessions at this time.

My values

I am truly a social worker at heart and serve my clients with many lenses looking at larger systems that impact us. I use systems theory, racial theory, queer theory, a fat positive lens, a strengths-based lens, an attachment lens, a whole person approach, and an anti-racist trauma informed framework. I believe that our relationship can be a foundation to work through your challenges. With an integrative process I believe that in this context, you will be able to heal old and new wounds and live a more full and satisfying life.

Ways of healing

I love integrating many different approaches to your personal healing journey. It’s definitely not a one size fits all as we all have different needs when it comes to therapy! I am extremely relational, connecting with you and using our relationship for healing and growth. I weave in a variety of practices and if those interest you, they are listed here. (not a full list!)

*Mindfulness

*Narrative therapy

*CBT

*Somatic integration

*Internal Family Systems

*Anti-Racist Trauma Informed Care

*Attachment Therapy, Externalization

*Strengths Based Work

*Inner Child Work

…and more.

Supervision

I am also a registered licensing supervisor with the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers. I absolutely love helping helpers on their journey of providing services to our community members. If you are seeking a supervisor in general or for LCSW licensure, please reach out to me for more information and a free 15 minute consultation to see if we could be a solid fit!

Meet Me!

I am a white, queer, and non-binary person. I am also an anti-capitalist therapist, social worker, and supervisor and I reside in Portland, Oregon. I have over 15 years of experience in various service roles to offer our work together. Since 2016, post graduating with my MSW degree from PSU, I have been working in a variety of therapeutic and clinical roles.

My work specialties include school and community based mental health therapy and social work, hospital and healthcare mental health therapy and social work, program development, clinical supervision, program management, and running my private practice providing mental health therapy. Much of this has been specifically focused on serving the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I also work with PSU’s Bachelors in Social Work program as an adjunct professor.

I truly feel honored to be any part of someone’s journey. I believe anyone can heal and anyone can change. I am a person who has experienced trauma in childhood, struggled with attachment challenges, suffered great loss, and walked my own complicated gender/queer journey. I believe all of these experiences inform my practice and how I can show up for you. As a white provider, I am committed to anti-oppressive practices. I attend training and engage in educational opportunities on anti-oppressive practice regularly. This will be ongoing work for me that I am deeply committed to.
